Building storage using existing resources

| I have a lot of old desktop grade hardware available with me in stock and lot of spare hard drives. I wanted to know if there is any way I can club them all together and create a storage system.

| sure you can. Look into LVM (i assume you want to use linux)

| isn't that going to limit the usage of disks to the smallest one of them?

| look flexraid.com, not for server, but good for home storage.
