Whither GeekStorage?

Posted by AgileMktg, 08-06-2008, 07:35 PM
I've got a reseller account through GeekStorage. I've had a few problems - some major, most minor - since signing up with them earlier this year. Today, all my clients's sites went away. Mine too, for that matter. I can't even get to the GS site itself from here in NY State. I have a direct number for Jay H (the owner) but I'm reluctant to use it without at least trying to track down an explanation here first. Anyone know what's going on? Why they're down? When they'll be back up? Any other resellers down? This is getting frustrating. *sigh*

Hi Scott, Have you submitted a support ticket? If so, what is the ticket number? Regards, Jay

Did you change your IPs for your nameservers after the move? I had to change my A record, because I wasn't using their nameservers. Funny thing was, one computer of mine still couldn't access the new server. Turned out that I forgot I set the IP in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.

Thanks for replying, Jay. Can't submit a ticket, because I can't get to your site. If everything's okay there, it must be a "blockage" between me and thee. I'm getting a timeout during the last hop of the traceroute to GS.com and my own e-mail system is immediately erroring out with "Cannot find entry."

Please send me a PM here with a traceroute. In addition to doing that, try performing a flush of your DNS to see if that helps. Start -> run -> type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.

Can you post a traceroute to geekstorage? Also, you seem to type some things in old english... Edit: Oops, a second too late. Whither, thee, etc.

Hosting to English usage. Nice switch over. And always nice to have some refreshment.
