vmstormvps.com VS vServerCenter.com

I have a website that needs 100% uptime so I think going cloud is my best choice. Right now I am choosing between vmstormvps.com vServerCenter.com they have almost the same pricing for their 1GB VMware server. Can anyone post their experience with them?

Yeah, true redundant cloud is what you need. I think there is a problem, none of them mentioned High Availability which one is essential for 100% uptime. Without HA they are just regular VPS. Many companies in nowadays are using word "CLOUD" just for marketing, they have nothing to do with true cloud infrastructure.

Not to promote our company here. Just to make a clarification: we did state High Availability in our VMware Cloud Server offering. It is in the subject line of our ad and also in the message body. We are running a true VMware cloud infrastructure.

I'll note here for the record that I represent VMStorm and we do offer HA. I strongly disagree with that statement. There are lots of things that make an infrastructure definable as a cloud, only one of which is the ability to offer resilience in the face of host failure (usually achieved with HA). Just a few of those other things are: 1. "Instant" scalability 2. SAN-Based storage on better than RAID-10 disks with diverse, redundant paths back to the SAN fabric 3. Lots of hosts -- enough to sustain some number of failed devices without affecting end users. 4. Fully redundant networking from core routing to core switching to edge networking And many more things. HA does not carry more weight than any of the other things that make a "cloud" offering a true cloud. Best, Dave

Just for clarification a VPS provider is not a cloud provider. VPS offerings are typically very cheap, whilst cloud offerings can be more expensive than a dedicated server. The additional cost is because cloud providers typically run a branded SAN which costs $$$$. VPS providers typically run on local SAS disks. Hope that helps!

Best of all, they usually have 2 SANs, main storage and synchronous failover. Usually cloud providers have failover for everything - control panel, VT servers, storage, network, failover PSU, etc.

I just did a benchmark on my vps with them and vmstormvps has higher score. vmstormvps.com - this has 2 cores but even the 1 core benchmark outperforms vservercenter vservercenter

Hi, Ray: Our 2 CPUs 2 Parallel copies index score is 1713.6 You can see the complete test data at: http://www.vservercenter.com/vmware-benchmarks How a index score 1594.0 is higher than 1713.6? Your first test is 2 CPUs 1 parallel copy which is different from our first test which is 1 CPU, not 2 CPUs. Sorry if I miss understood your post.

I cant edit my post anymore so heres my benchmark with vservercenter I don't now why I get 709.4 only. My first test on another vps with them I got 1000+ I am just comparing the plans that both of you offer for the same price. This might not be the correct way in comparing two products, but I just want to compare which can give me more for my money Anyways your servers are really fast. I am actually still considering in transferring one of my cpanel server on your cpanel plan. Last edited by VPSForge-Ray; 10-06-2011 at 12:28 AM.

Thanks. Yes, 2 CPUs are much better than 1 CPU. I think you get a good deal. Actually 4 CPU Cores cloud servers perform better than a lot low end or average Dedicated Servers.
