Kloxo installation questions

Posted by wardpeet, 06-08-2012, 03:30 AM
I just saw kloxo and looks great to be free but is it possible to install the kloxo panel on top of an already lamp stack? I mean I would like to install everything myself so I know where everything is installed and how it is configured or is that impossible.

I don't think that's possible, certainly not recommended at least. Generally with these control panels, you want to install them on a clean OS installation. However, if you like Kloxo (hard to believe in my opinion), check out zPanel. As far as free control panels go, zPanel seems to be the only one I'd even consider touching. Kloxo and webmin are absolute crap in my opinion. Last, if you're only managing a few websites...why not go no control panel? Sounds like you already know what you're doing.

I think you got the words 'obsolete' and 'absolute' mixed up.

I only heard about kloxo and webmin :p not about zpanel. It's not for me it's for my clients, clients like panels and I don't want to pay for cpanel. I look into zpanel.

can i setup Kloxo with centos 6?

Kloxo is currently only for CentOS 5. There are problems with Kloxo running on CentOS 5 nevermind CentOS 6, so I'd look for another more stable control panel. I'd suggest zPanel if it has to be a free control panel.
