Hi! I thought that many of us starting out with a reseller might require this thread. There are soooooooo many threads here to help you with choosing a place to buy your reseller. But after that? Ok, you've got your domain & you wake up to see the cofirmation(setup) mail from your host which says that your account is setup. Now what? You login to your WHM & what's the first thing you do? Like do u configure anything or just start making new packages & feature lists. Do u make some accounts as a test. After that? What do u do? Do u start with ur layout or what else. I know this might sound very simple, but I just thought of knowing the correct way to do stuff. Most of you here have gone through this stage & have even got many servers so you might wanna enlighten some of the newbies. Please try to give as many details as possible. To keep it all neat, here are some tips: Question To certain Name: Include your questions regarding anything in this formate. Question: followed by your question. (To is Optional) [Comments] Use the [ ] to enclose your comments and slightly-off topic talks. Include your advice/tips without any tags in just simple way of typing.

Man, you are asking one question which requires all answer. Kind of asking for my business plan , except I have to put it in answers format. I can tell you one thing for sure. There is a lot of work, product analysis , business analysis, and competitive advantage analysis ...etc (boy I run out of business jargon) Well, after you got your website up, probably you should integrate your billing software (if you have one) , your support and forums too. Then you can start doing some small testing if u can register yourself a domain name and purchase a site through your own payment gateway / website. Then after that, ask for some feedback from the Pros in WHT. If they say "ok, you are ready to go" , then you go for it ! haha, that last part was just a joke. however good advice is hard to come by. Then you can do your marketing and starting to keep track of accounts and supporting your customers. Very important, always make sure you got a good reseller provider backing you up. Dont go to war without your guns!!! =) Joshua

Thanks Joshua! That was a nice start. I'll remember to ask WHT about my hosting before I get rollin'] Question: Which is better ModernBill or ClientExec.

There's a wealth of information in the Running a Web Hosting Business forum as well as the Hosting Software and Control Panels forum. Those forums will probably answer alot of the questions you have. While it would be great to have all the information in one thread, sometimes you have do your own research. The Search feature is your friend. Use it wisely.

I did look into those Forums you mentioned above, but I thought that sharing your hands-on experience might be a lot better & fruitful!

Hi Intelle, From my research , many ppl is complaining Modern Bill is bad , and not really bad, just hard to setup. You can spend some money for setup, that would be great. Actually there has been Many are saying WHM _ Autopilot is pretty good too. I just started on WHM Autopilot. So I think I will stick to it for a while. And probably use it . It comes free with hostgator. if you like modern bill, you can try turnkeyresellers =) Joshua

Hello, Yes, you start making the packages in WHM and configuring everything so that you can setup accounts quickly. I would advise you to get a professional website to attract people. I would also advise that you make sure you have the time to support your clients. Support is a big must. Good Luck

Ok ok, here is a quite relevant ones to everyone. How many days does it take for you guys (resellers) to launch your website after you have signed up for your first reseller package? Joshua

Posted by Ongobay, 09-27-2004, 06:28 PM
I would advise making the site before buying the package. Otherwise everyday you spend with no site is a day of losing money. Make the site, make the packages you want, then you can find a reseller to suit your needs. Work ou what you want to offer and for what price. Then look for who you want to go with from there.

Hmm... Ok, Question: Is an 8 hour per week day & 10 hour on Weekends support enough to start with. That is what we are gonna have. The site is gonna look professional, that's guarenteed. Question For thenynoc: What kind of configurations do we do?

Thats alot of time for starting out, you should have no problems with that much support at first. Good luck with it

Great! Thanks Ongobay! I'm doing everything I can to make Intelle a rocker! Our costs are great & we don't oversell too.

You'll probably end up overselling, i personally dont see anything wrong with it. Im finding that out of the space allocated to people, the are using only around 18% of it. As long as I make sure that if they ALL ever started to use 100% I could cover it easily then there are no problems. There are ALOT of topics on overselling, so im not going to talk too much on it, but read around. It's more of a personal preference IMHO. Good luck

There are good and bad about oversell. Most of the times, I think it depends on the market segment we are going for. =) Joshua
