allow multiple remote desktop connections

Posted by linktome, 07-12-2009, 05:33 AM
By default, it seems there are only 2 remote desktop connections allowed to a Windows server. If I need more, for example, up to 10 connections at the same time, how to do that? Thank you.

Buy license of terminal server

Alternatively, if this is an option for you, use VNC.

Yes this is a restriction to prevent you from using it as a terminal server. Max 2 connections is all you should need for remote administration, this is why MS does this. As Jackpx said, you'll need to buy a licence for more connections.

Along with two normal terminal services login, you also have an option for a console login. So, without purchasing additional licenses, 3 people can access the server using RDP at a time.

You can purchase either user license or device license. Check your requirement and purchase the appropriate license.
