hey, i have a friend who has a business that they are looking to have tax documents uploaded to a website. Besides using a very good framework. What level of SSL is required ( or recommended ) for this? What other security items should i share with him to insure the safety of these documents? Hi, If the data is too sensitive, then you should check the level of encryption the SSL is going to provide. You can get in touch with the certificate authority first and then get this clarified.

As long as you generate the SSL certificate as SHA 2, there is not much difference between the various certificates(in terms of encryption level). There are way more security issues besides just having a SSL. Your best bet would be contact some hosts and inquire about their server management and security services. Thus way you can have them properly secure and harden the server to close unneeded ports, ensure proper encryption, set security policy's, etc. Although you probably don't fall under the requirements for HIPAA or PCI compliance, following their guidelines as much as possible would help ensure you have a secure system.
