Resellers reselling?

Posted by mineral, 01-30-2002, 02:52 PM
Hi, Just wondered how these donhost resellers are actually reselling themselves ie are able to provide people with reseller control panels and of course selling 100 times more than it would be possible to have being a donhost reseller. If you are say a donhost reseller are you able to provide people with reseller control panels from your own original reseller account? How are they doing this? If you buy a donhost account you can sell your space on to someone else and give them a control panel, however you are not allowed to sell reseller packages to other people and if donhost find out they close your account and you lose your money. I know some people do resell though and the person who owns the donhost reseller has to set up all of their accounts for them

Its actually the donhost reseller selling reseller accounts if that makes sense I know the original donhost reseller can hand out control panels but the ones he hands out are reseller control panels? eg http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1328456537 How can a donhost reseller do this?

If anyone is DUMB enough to take this offer on then they deserve every cr*p deal they end up with... ...no way to pretty it up.. You would have to be suffering terminal brain farts to take a deal like that... If nothing else take a look at the comments... Is it just me or did someone forget that they were supposed to be writing the comment as if they were supposed to be the happy customer. I won't say it's a con but you make your own mind up... It certainly smells very fishy... 150Gb a month for a yearly fee. It'd be like Toys R'Us delivering the entire store to your kids. Nuff said I reckon!

I did some research on the provider who is hostgrid.net I found out that Donhost is doing their hosting: 01/30/02 18:01:51 dns hostgrid.net hostgrid.net is handled by server7.donhost.co.uk server5.donhost.co.uk Canonical name: hostgrid.net Addresses: 195.10.228.176 Also the plans on their site are so hyped up only a fool will sign up with them. So, then if a reseller sold for a reseller of DonHost who then resold their space to another reseller who sold space and control panels to other resellers to already a 2nd level reseller of don host (unknowingly) and then resold those plans to another reseller, what is DonHosts policy on that?! Excuse me... I have to sit down now...

whoa that was hard to understand. lol. i don't think they are actually connected to donhost. they are just reselling to them.

So basically nobody actually knows how they do it

Donhost does offer dedicated servers, togeter with their control panel. My guess is that they have one. server7.donhost.co.uk is not one of the servers Donhost resellers are on, they're on 4 and 6, so... Heh, did you look at Donhost dedicated fees...? Ales

Donhost say that hostgrid are one of their resellers but i have a suspicion that they shouldnt actually be doing what they are! The server thing is true, i have reseller accounts on donhost server 4,6 and my new ones are on 11 but they don't use server 7 for resellers

If they are using a dedicated from Donhost to do this then they are overselling their bandwidth like crazy. Donhost gives a maximum of 20Gb/Month and it is an extra £10 for every extra Gb. I wouldn't mind signing up just to try and burn out all their bandwidth so they start having to pay £10 for extra.
