Upgrading php from 5.0.4 to 5.1.4

| Is there a way to update php from 5.0.4 to 5.1.4 quickly without using yum or up2date?
Can this be done with RPM? Or where can I find instructions on doing this?

| You could update it via RPM if you find a suitable RPM.. but I would recommend just installing PHP from source instead. Usually the RPM's are out of date by a couple versions .. it also doesn't allow you to customize what you want compiled in.

| If you install the new version of php will it install over the old version?

You want to upgrade to 5.2.6

| Plus, if you're doing it through RPM, you'll have to make sure you update it to use the current MySQL libs on your system.
