Hello, iam searching for a Hardware with can ping my Server and if a Server is not responsing, it should send a SMS to a Phone Number........ Is there are Hardware out witch can handle this? I just found Software what you can install on a Server or Services witch provide such a Service...... BTW: The GSM Modem should be available for Europe GSM :=)

As far as I know, there are no specialised appliances for this. The hardware is usually a computer. So, about the best you can do is to grab the software, install it on a laptop, and stick a gsm modem on the laptop. That would constitute an applicance of sorts. If you really want to go nuts, I guess you could get the software of your choice, integrate the os, and install it on a special purpose single board computer that uses compact flash instead of a hard drive. A lot of work to duplicate the end result, which is a message to your sms. But, you *can* do it. The question is, why would you? If your idea is to somehow sell this *applicance*, I would doubt very much that there is any market for it.

We recommend the whatsup product. Also in the past we have used a shareware product called slist. It really depends if you are only looking for ping response, or if you are querying service status also.

Nagios will do it. The best of open source monitoring solutions. Google "Nagios sms" Enjoy.
