Searching for security docs I found this page about securing /etc/hosts.conf file. http://www.faqs.org/docs/securing/chap5sec39.html Same is reviewed here: http://www.eth0.us/node/104 My question is.. is it safe to configure /etc/host.conf file in shared servers with RHEL 3,4 + cPanel? This should be a good config from what I've read: Suggestios please! Thanks!

The second and third line seems to be fine. There is no need of reversing the hosts, bind order. Let it be "hosts" first itself. This will help in testing particular things when there is any issue with a remote DNS. There will be no issue when used in a shared environment.
