Cron Jobs
Posted by WO Hostings, 06-10-2007, 03:11 PM |
Ok, i'm trying to setup our helpdesk and need to run a cron job.
Done what the manual of Kayako explained and added a cron:
*/5 * * * * root GET
http://www.domain.com/support/cron/index.php?_t=parser
I went onto CPanel and inserted the Cron as:
*/5 * * * * GET
http://www.domain.com/support/cron/index.php?_t=parser
Nothing worked, however when I used the URL manually it parsed and sent the emails through, so the error is with the cron job.
So next I tried:
*/5 * * * * root GET
http://www.domain.com/support/cron/index.php?_t=parser
Nothing worked..
I decided to check the output and I am receiving this error:
/bin/sh: GET: command not found (for the one without root in front)
and
/bin/sh: root: command not found (for the one with root in)
Can someone advise me?

Are you replacing domain.com with your domain?
Edit:
I had to ask.
Also, did you try the non advanced mode?

Yes, of course I replaced it with our full URL to the script.
Also, I have tried in both advanced and basic, still the same. However I also have WHMAuto running cron's and they work fine.

I have had a similar problem with cPanel cron jobs, I cannot remember why exactly but it did start working later in the day.
That was a couple of years ago. Now I just do the crontab through ssh

0 9 * * * /usr/local/bin/php -q /home/domain/public_html/helpdesk/admin/cron.php
and the result is always
/bin/sh: 0: command not found

Ive just been told to use the wget command instead of GET, and it's worked.. just has a report of permission denied but still works.
