Your Budget is reasonable, you can go with a VPS too.

But he will need cPanel too, and some other tools, then budget may be a problem.

What flavor of OS do you prefer? Are you looking for just plain old vanilla Linux/cpanel?

35$/month is a good budget. Can get a managed VPS with at least 1GB RAM.

How much disk space are you currently using ? as you don't want to spend out on unnecessary space. Its always easy to start off small then upgrade when needed. However for a reliable provider I would recommend EZPZ or Speedysparrow

Do you really need 100GB storage? If high quotas are an absolute necessity http://mellowhost.com or http://turnkeyinternet.net are possible options.

Not 100 Gb space but check out v7host.com (=

Try checking out hostgator. They are reliable and they even got some great addons like whmcs that they include for free. Their network its good and when I used them. There support wasnt bad at all either.

Or add a little more and get a managed vps with WHM.

You should be able to go with a reputable provider for that budget, but stay away from the unlimited type providers. Just think about how oversold their servers probably are. Maybe increase your budget $10 and get a nice managed VPS, that would be your best option but obviously cut into your budget a bit.

Just curious, what kind of reliability issue were you having with your reseller host as your budget seems about right for a good quality hosting plan?

Before decide to choose reseller hosting, you should make sure the features offered. And one thing important, is the hosting company good credibility or not. For this, you can looking for review about hosting that you might be interest.

At such level of requirement i will recommend you start thinking for your own separate VPS Server with any good web host.

I wouldn't recommend a VPS just like that. A VPS is a whole different platform that requires much more attention than a reseller account. It isn't as simple as installing WHM/cPanel and letting it run. You'll have to take care of it just like a normal dedicated server. The only thing you won't need to worry about is hardware failures, but everything else will be the same (kernel updates, security patches, software updates etc).

1 for vps. VPS will help in your case. You can go with vps its within your budget mentioned. Try Hostgator, Liquidweb or any other provider with fully managed support will help you a lot.
