Need help with a client VPS.. Strange behavior!

Posted by neutrall, 06-02-2014, 02:03 PM
Hi, One of our client had a lot of fun playing with his VPS settings and now needs help to have it work normally! The VPS is a CentOs + cPanel installation. and the problem is as follow : Technically, when you enter a subdomain that doesn't exist, you should get a error page, in his case, every single subdomain possibility ave not redirected to his main hosting account. Example, invalidsubdomain.HisSite.com -> point to -> HisSite.com, etc... I have the same problem even when I retrieve his htaccess file. Does anyone have a idea where to start looking for the problem? I've trying browsing the CPanel forum without any success! thank !

Might be an issue with apache configuration.

I am still unclear with the case. can you please elaborate this a bit further? do you mean you're getting presented with a certain account when non-existent websites accessed? does that account use a dedicated IP?

No mather what subdomain you enter, we get transfered to the site main page. The problem is that no subdomain are created.

have you checked the redirects in cpanel? (look and see if there is a *.domain.com redirecting to the domain)...it's a start at least ...had a client do it before and forget about it.

Coulb be, but I don't play often in redirection, does those redirection look OK ? Note, all the line appears twice in the redirection menu... ? Attached Thumbnails   Last edited by neutrall; 06-02-2014 at 03:39 PM. Reason: missing information

those redirects should only be redirecting the domain.com to the /directory/ listed. If those are the only ones that are there then they look fine to me. The issue would be if there was one that said *.domain.com, if you don't see that anywhere then that shouldn't be the issue.

I think I have cPanel take a look at the server, I'll post the solution here once it's done!
