Emails bounced by outlook.com

I recently ordered a new VPS and have problems sending emails from it to Outlook.com, my emails are being bounced with this error message: SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM: SIZE=2156: host mx2.hotmail.com [65.55.92.136]: 550 SC-001 (SNT004-MC1F14) Unfortunately, messages from 23.94.1.42 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. I have been told that setting up the RDNS for my IP could be the solution, so I am going ahead. Do you think it may be enough? I remember that Outlook.com had a tool called Smart Network Data Services, but the link to that page is no longer working. http://mail.live.com/mail/services.aspx http://postmaster.live.com/snds

setting your rDNS will be necessary, but it will not be enough. the IP address is blocked in their list and you will have to fill in a form to get the IP address unblocked.

First you need to identify why the IP was blocklisted. Check the IP blocklist details and see, when it was listed in blocklist. If it was before you purchased the vps, ie if the IP was already blocklisted, inform the vps provider to supply new IP address which is clean. If the IP is blocklisted, once it was assigned to your vps, then its due to the massive outgoing spam mails that originated from your machine. You need to identify that first and cure it. Otherwise, even if you de-list your IP from the blocklist, there are chances that the IP gets listed again soon. If an IP is listed multiple times, then it becomes hard to de-list it again.

You need to ensure other accounts if any hosted on the VPS is not sending any spam mails to Hotmail servers. Once you have ensured spamming is no longer happening from the server, allow some time for the IP to get delisted from their blacklist. Then mails will be delivered fine.

Ask your provider to change your IP. You cant do anything else to unblock it.
